Information about Waypad

General overview

Your digital everyday life is filled with repetitive processes. The processes can be difficult to remember, time-consuming to learn, exhausting to perform, and could possibly be made simpler.
  • Do you go through many steps every time you create a prescription for your patients?
  • Do you feel like you first have to learn how to use the system before you can carry out your processes? Wouldn't it be amazing if, instead, it was the system that adapted to your processes?
  • Do you jump back and forth between different systems due to a lack of integrations between them?
  • Do you have shortcuts that could save you a lot of time but are difficult to remember?

How does it work?

A computer with the Waypad application next to a device The main components in Waypad
There are three main components required for Waypad to function:
  1. 1. A computer; where the workflows will be executed.
  2. 2. A device; where you get a visual overview of the workflows you can perform and where you activate the workflows from.
  3. 3. Installation of the Waypad application on the computer; the link between the computer and the device. The application is also where workflows and profiles can be modified.
After installing the application on the computer and setting up the workflows, the system is ready for use. When a workflow is activated on the device, a signal will be sent to the application, which then executes the workflow on the computer.

Profiles

A profile is an overview of your available workflows. Customize the appearance of the profile and workflows; set names, colors, and icons so that the workflows look exactly the way you want them. Organize the workflows by placing them in groups or use folders to accommodate even more workflows and groupings. After customization, you will see that the device reflects your new profile.

Devices

There are several types of supported devices: Elgato Stream Deck and mobile devices (both Android and iOS). On your selected device, you will have a visual overview of your profile and the ability to execute the displayed workflows. This means you don't need to remember the workflows that you have available. Your device will automatically update to display the latest updates to your profiles.

Workflows

A workflow represents a specific process in your daily routine. This can range from writing a specific text, opening a website, performing a predefined keyboard combination, to creating a document from a template, referring a patient, and other more complex processes. Waypad allows you to create your own workflows by combining various actions, so you get the workflows you need, not everyone else's. After creating a workflow, you can personalize it to make it easily recognizable and place it wherever you want in your profile. From your device, you can then activate the workflow.

Actions

The building blocks of a workflow are called actions. An action can be a very small building block used together with other actions or complex enough to be used independently in a workflow. Often, an action will perform a very specific task, making it easy to use in many different types of workflows. Some actions include settings that are either optional or mandatory to fill out. In future versions of Waypad, you will be able to use results from previous actions in the settings of subsequent actions. For now, you can enter specific values into the settings. The publisher of a plugin, which is a collection of actions, is the one who defines the content of the included actions.

Special actions

In addition to regular actions, there are a few more special ones. These actions are developed by Waypad as internal actions; actions that have access to internal processes within the Waypad system. Some examples of these special actions include:
  • Reload, an action that can interrupt workflows and reload all actions and plugins.
  • Folder, an action that provides folder functionality, allowing you to organize and include more workflows in your profile.

Plugins

A collection of actions is called a plugin and is additional software that can be added to provide more actions to choose from. Typically, a plugin will be designed for a specific system or group of functions. Note that not all plugins necessarily work on all platforms; some may only function on Windows or macOS, for example. Please feel free to contact us if there are any types of actions you are missing!
